So I've had this idea for about 5 years now where I want to do more than just be the lender that clients choose to finance their home with. While I do love generating loans, I want to do something more. I want to create a space where my clients can get ideas and tips to build on their current homeownership status. Some of my clients aren't yet ready and maybe need a little advice to get them to where they need to be. On the other hand, some of my clients want to have a conversation because they don't think they are ready, but in reality they are and have been ready for quite some time.

5 years....man that's a long time to think and not act! 5 years ago I was working as an Operations Manager for a mortgage company and also doing clients loans. I had been with my company for 6 years doing the same daily grind. My normal working week consisted of getting up at 3am and starting my work day, get the kids to school, go in the office, leave around 6 to go home. I would return all of my missed calls on my drive home from the office. Once I got home it was usually another half hour sitting in the car finishing my calls. Once I would get in to my family our evening had been well started without me. After the kids got all taken care of it was back to my home office to continue working. I went several years easily working 80+ hours each week. Then, the big COVID pandemic hit and I also had to be "teacher" to 3 kids during the day. Suddenly my eyes were open to what is really important in life and I had to make a change. I thank God for my husband and my Maw-Maw for picking up my slack at home so I could work. Maw-Maw would get the kids off the bus and get them snacks. Often she would come over to the house early so she could clean or start laundry, of course without ever being asked because she was just that awesome! My husband worked 12 hours and then would get home well before me and get homework done with the kids, run them to sports, and get dinner going while also cleaning. He's the real MVP!!

So COVID hits and after quite a few mental breakdowns I decided to take a step back. I gave up my position as Operations Manager and wanted to just focus on my clients. I made a few moves with a couple different companies and spent the last 4 years with a great company, but since January thinking more and more about how I can bring more to the table for my clients. I want to bring in tips from insurance agents, financial advisors, appraisers, credit guru's....anyone and everyone that can help build wealth through homeownership. So, here we have it, the creation of SETX Home Team. I will be posting DIY projects. You can find some of my favorite products on the main page. I will also have write ups from other experts in the homeownership field to share secrets and tips.

On my career side, I've been researching different companies that have more to offer for my clients. Last week I decided to pull the plug and make the switch to the broker side of lending. This will pull my clients from the double A team and launch them into the big leagues! Not only are the interest rates exceptionally better, but I will be able to offer a ton more options for programs. We are talking commercial, property flipping, hard money, rehab, many more assistance programs....you know, building on that financial wealth! I'm excited and I'm ready to help build portfolios for clients. I can't wait to see what the rest of 2025 brings!!
